Graphite / Carbon Material Scientist (Fuel, Reactor & Reprocessing team)

We are looking for an individual to support NNL’s work on Graphite technology for existing operating reactors, new reactor designs as well as graphite waste management and decommissioning. The role sits within the NNL’s Graphite team part of the Fuels, Reactors and Reprocessing capability. This is a growing area and there is a need to develop the next generation of expertise to fulfil the growing market demand, for on-going reactors, design of new reactors and graphite decommissioning in the UK and internationally. The purpose of the position is to undertake analysis and develop new methods to characterise and model graphite behaviour to support the forementioned activities.

Nuclear Physicist (Fuel, Reactor & Reprocessing team)

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with members of both the Irradiated Fuels and Corrosion team, and the Nuclear physics team with the objective of developing a technical understanding of both fuel and nuclear/reactor physics. The role delivers to programmes of work related to both current reactor operations in the UK, and future requirements which includes developments in the NNL focus areas including nuclear for medical applications, security and non-proliferation, clean energy and environmental restoration.
